The Cycle of Life

After viewing this photo, I thought about how accurately it portrays the cycles of LIFE.

All three stages of this Lauren's Grape Poppy are represented here.

Yesterday's seed head......

Today's flower....

And the hope of Tomorrow in this flower bud!

gardens and life cycles go hand in hand for sure. I didn't notice the flower bud when I looked at your first picture. When I saw the close-up of the bud I went back for another look at the first photo. Sure enough I had missed it. Surprise! I'd say gardens and surprises go hand in hand too.

Very apt and thoughtful representation of cycles of life. That's the beauty of a garden- it replicates life, makes it worth living and gives the ultimate satisfaction of tending to life and experiencing its stages.

Connie, I've been wanting to grow that poppy for a long time. Can you tell me if you got your seeds from a commercial source? I'd love to get some....

Mary,
I bought the seed on Ebay. Have you done any seed trading on GardenWeb? I will have seeds to trade a little later in the season when they are fully dry and I get a chance to update my seed exchange page. If you'd like more info, feel free to email me!

I love the look of Lauren's grape poppy on your blog -- do the blooms hang around for two days, three days or less? I have found a source for these seeds near me in the UK and would like to grow it this year. Did you find it mixed with your other poppies in the garden and eventually disappeared? would you recommend this plant? Thanks!

Stopwatch Gardener - As I recall, I think the flowers lasted at least that long. I only grew it one year, so don't know about it mixing with other poppies.
It is a pretty plant, but I prefer the Shirley poppies for lots of blooms and longer bloom time.
