Welcome December

It's the second day of December, and we are still enjoying such unseasonably mild temperatures that the Lilacs, Service berries, and other shrubs think it is Spring....and are budding! I took advantage of the mild weather today to take a walk in the neighborhood.....camera in hand.

This country road is where I take my (sometimes) daily walk. I tend to not walk as often as I should this time of year, because of rainy days and early darkness. Today the mountains were wearing their white shawl of low hanging clouds. I love the mood and effect it casts on the surrounding scenery.

A view towards town.....with lots of gray clouds in the sky. The river runs just below here, though not visible in the photo. Today I received my first seed and gardening catalogs which, for me, officially marks the beginning of the "Plan and Dream" season. :-)

"From December to March,
there are for many of us three gardens ~
the garden outdoors,
the garden of pots and bowls in the house,
and the garden of the mind's eye."

I'm ready for plan and dream! Your pics of the wide open spaces just seems almost unreal to me. I can't look 500 feet down in the piedmont of NC without hitting a tree dead on.

Good morning Connie, You are having unusually mild weather and we are having unusually cool weather down here in Florida. It is a dream come true for me - we are actually getting to wear sweaters occasionally. Typically we are in shorts and short sleeves all November and December.

The scenery in Idaho is breathtaking. Love the one with the road winding through.

Enjoy your planning and dreaming today... I am off to my "sometimes" daily walk. :-)
Blessings,
Meems

Lovely and familiar scenery, Connie! I got my first cattle dog (as my children used to call them) yesterday too...from Fedco, my favorite. Let the games begin!!

I remember weather like that when we lived in Oregon. Your area is just beautiful, and looks like a great place to walk.

You sure live in a beautiful area! There's another place I garden from time to time in the winter, and it's in my dreams at night.

Plan and dream season...indeed! It's what keeps us going through the winter.

Your photos are beautiful. I wish we had even a small amount of roll to the landscape. It adds a lot!
