Calendulas and Catmint

I purchased these vintage green bottles at a flea market last summer, with the vision of arranging them with a single flower in each. I posted a earlier photo with Orange Cosmos in a single green bottle/vase. The green and orange really seemed to work well together.

I decorated for a bridal shower this week, which motivated me to try out my idea. Here they are grouped together on my kitchen counter. They looked a little bare with only one late blooming Calendula per vase, as the flowers are pretty small this time of year, so I doubled them up and added some blue Catmint. They do look charming, I think.....especially at a time of year when color is so scarce. I didn't end up using these for the shower, but I am enjoying the bright spot in my kitchen!

A tour around the garden did yield a small bouquet of flowers for the bridal shower....on December 5th, no less! I will share the photo on my next post.

Oh Connie, these look like a breath of spring and here it is December. What a blessing to have fresh flowers to cut and put in your very pretty little vases. I have blue ones much like those... they are very fun to group together with sprigs of this and that all year long.

Hi Connie, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment!

I have to leave my Rosemary outside, it is a 4 foot high hedge! We are in a milder climate here in the UK though, despite being further North than you; the Gulf Steam keeps us warmer, hate to think what happens if it stops as predicted by global warming gurus, a huge freeze!

Loved the contrast of the orange marigolds against the green bottles, its a very enlivening combination, and reminds me of summer.

Connie, they are darling and lovely! I adore the green bottles too.

We have snow here, so there is nothing blooming but one pansy and one Laura Bush petunia in the sunroom along with the red geraniums. On another note, I've ordered my seeds from Fedco!!! So exciting this time of year is, don't you think? With all the time to plan and dream and imagine there's hardly enough time to cook a decent dinner...ha!

Oooh, how pretty these look, Connie! And great to see at this time of year, too, when things are looking so bleak and gray outside.
