A Black and White World

Our second round of snowfall has brought the level to about a foot deep. It went over the top of my boots when I took my veggie scraps out to the compost pile this morning. :-) I think this may be a record snowfall for us, especially this early in the season. Something I really appreciate about living here in our valley is the lack of wind, which allows the snow to pile up neatly on everything.

I like the way my birdbath resembles a layer cake...complete with fluffy white frosting.

Our patio dining set. Care to come over for a (very) cool drink?

Flat heads of Yarrow in the flower garden sporting their fancy conehead caps.

I love the yarrow hats!

I can't believe how much snow is everywhere... except here in North Carolina.

Stay warm!
Happy Holidays,

Everyone is getting snow but us! I live in VA and the odds of us having a white Christmas is slim to none. In 20 years we've only had one maybe 2 tops! Stay warm & Happy Holidays!

We have snow, too, but not as much as you do. Your table looks like it has a huge cake on it, too. I love those cone hats on the yarrow as well!

Merry Christmas!

Stunning, Connie, simply stunning. I've tried to get out take some pics too. Why do you take food scraps out in this when you have a worm box?... something I'g getting for Christmas from my DH!

Cat - We have company, so there is enough scraps for both the worms and the compost bin, ha. The worms get the more finely shredded stuff and the big chunks go out, and worms don't like onion skins, so they go out, etc. Some favorite foods for the worms are coffee grounds, crushed egg shells, apple peels, and citrus peels. I find tons of cocoons inside of empty lemon, lime or grapefruit halves.

Oh yes, please include me for a very 'cool' drink in your 'picture card' pretty winter garden. (Believe me, I know how to dress in my woolies!). Happy Holidays!

Your snow pics are just beautiful. Unfortunately, we usually get wind so it doesn't fall and stack quite so prettily here. I love the cones on the yarrow too. Such a cool pic and I have the same birdbath as you do!! Happy New Year!
