Butterfly on Coneflower

I was taking some photos of a few new flowers in my garden yesterday, when this butterfly caught my eye. It was checking out the Coneflowers and I got the chance at just one shot.....before it quickly fluttered away again.

I am not sure what type this is....but it's not one I see often here. Can anyone identify it for me?

Coneflowers are always a favorite of the butterflies.....and me. :-)
I love the fact that they come into bloom just about the time when I am hauling cartloads of spent flowers out of the garden!

So very pretty! I am tempted to say it's a type of fritillary, but I am not 100% sure.

It is pretty, but I am not sure, either. The markings look right for a fritillary, but it is not one I know.

Connie, what a great picture! I don't know what kind of butterfly that is, but it's really pretty!

No clue but I do agree about how nice it is to have something blooming when one is trying to clean out all the stuff that is done. :)

I'm not 100% sure but looks like a Hydaspe Fritillary to me. Great pictures! :)

I don't know the butterflies but isn't it amazing how fast they move? Love your new cottage look.

I love the coneflowers, too, and was happy to snap some shots recently of a tiger swallowtail on mine. Nice shot, and the brevity of the visit makes the photo all the sweeter, doesn't it?

I just wanted to say that I adore your blog! Your photos are spectacular. And, that banana-cream colored house is dreamy!! My favorite home color.

Anyhow, when my friend, Kami tagged my blog, I selected six of my favorite home/gardening blogs to "tag". And, while we've never met, I hope you'll play along!

You can click on my name to get back to my blog for directions on how to play. Thanks!
