Spring Violets

Spring is definitely here, as evidenced by the violets blooming in my flower garden. This entire plant had to be pulled up because it was out of place. When the seeds of violets ripen, they burst open and shoot seeds everywhere....so they need a little help staying in line. But I put up with their bad habits, in exchange for the privilege of seeing those enchanting blue flowers in the early spring when my eyes are so hungry for color!

Shown here in a tiny tea cup (only 2 1/2 inches tall), also adorned with violets, this diminutive, cheerful arrangement sits on the window sill in front of my kitchen sink. When I see it, it just makes me smile with gratitude.... for yet another Spring season!

The modest, lowly violet
In leaves of tender green is set;
So rich she cannot hide from view,
But covers all the bank with blue.

  2. They do indeed - but I too like their color and the nostalgia of them.

    I love to see their seed pods even if I don't like the results - they are kinda cool looking

  3. Wow! So blessed to see violets (none showing faces here yet). But must confess to having a love/hate relationship with them. Your bouquet is stunning, and what I love but ... the are much too happy in my garden and wander everywhere. Happy Spring :)

  4. Very pretty indeed. They are always popping up in our garden, I like them but they are always in the wrong place. I never thought of bringing them in the house, What a great idea. Thanks so much.

  8. So much darker (and earlier) than our violets. They make a lovely arrangement in the cup.

  10. They are just beautiful in that gorgeous tea cup Connie. I plant them anyway, even with their habits ~ they just are too cheery to not do so.
    It's good to "see" you ~ I noticed you weren't posting there for a while. Happy Spring!

  14. Oh how I love your little violets. One of my favorite tea cups of my grandma had little violet all over it, I would always ask my mom for my tea in that cup.

  15. So very pretty. I love them in the teacup. I have several vintage teacups that don't really see much use - this post inspires me!

  16. I never thought about digging up some of my hundreds of violets in my yard and putting them in a tea cup. I love the idea. I don't mind them in my grass, my yard becomes very colorful in the spring with the wild flowers gone rampant.

  17. I love violets! I wouldn't mind having them all over my lawn. Reminds me of a place I lived when I was a child--I used to pick them from our lawn.What a pretty picture. Thanks for sharing it.
