When I looked out the window yesterday morning, I was greeted with the lovely sight of sparkling frost everywhere, so I quickly got myself dressed and headed out the door....to try and capture some of the beauty, before it disappeared!

Mountain AshLast year our first killing frost was on October 9th, which was a bit earlier than our typical mid-October date here in our zone 6b. This year it came on October 30th, a full 3 weeks later than last year....we almost made it to November.

Really wonderful photos of the frost rimed plants. The crystalline structures of the frost is quite interesting and beautiful. We have yet to have a killing frost but the forecast for next week seems to be the end of this unseasonable warmth.

A lovely sight indeed!! And beautifully captured!! Breathtaking isn't it...hard to imagine that something that kills our flower's ~Or put's them to bed ..is sooo beautiful!! It looks as if you still had a lot of diffrent thing's blooming!! Love the frost covered rose, and the Scabiosa...they were all just beautiful!

ReplyDeleteJust catching up with your posts. Although we had several light frosts in early October in this part of Vermont, we made it until the last week before a killing frost. This was very unusual. The trollius always offer a second, lesser bloom from September on but this year they were special. Even the hollyhocks continued to bloom until the end.
